Toluene disproportionation and alkyl transfer reaction process use toluene and C-9/C-10 aromatics as raw materials to produce benzene and mixed xylene. The output of mixed xylene accounts for about 50% of the total output of the combined aromatics unit, which is the key unit of the combined aromatics unit. Since the 1970s, the Shanghai Institute has been developing toluene disproportionation and alkyl transfer technology. Adhering to the concept of green chemistry, the catalysts and processes developed have met the development trend and technical needs of the continuous expansion and transformation of industrial plants, energy saving and consumption reduction, and heavy raw materials.

The project has obtained more than 50 authorized invention patents at home and abroad and won 1 national Science and Technology Progress Prize, 1 National Science and Technology Progress Prize, the 1-second prize from SinopecTechnology invention, 3 first prizes of Sinopec Science andTechnology Progress Prize, 1 National invention Patent Goldaward, and 1 first prize of Shanghal invention Prize.

The S-TDT disproportionation and alkyl transfer technology solve the engineering problems caused by the large scale of the plant. The process package designed based on the HAT series of toluene and heavy aromatic alkyl transfer catalysts with leading comprehensive performance is superior to similar technologies at home and abroad in terms of energy consumption and product quality, its technical characteristics are as follows:

◆ Flexible operation: By adjusting the toluene /C, A ratio in the reaction feed the product structure of the reaction product xylene and benzene can be adjusted.

◆ High quality: benzene purity >99.90%, ethylbenzene /C.A<1% in the product.

◆ Energy saving and consumption reduction: the reaction system and fractionation unit adopt thermal integration technology, and the energy consumption of the device is low.

◆ High reaction efficiency: The use of a large axial flow fixed bed reactor, patented technology gas distributor, and collector, the reaction material distribution is uniform, effectively improving the catalytic reaction performance.

 

HAT/HLD Series Catalysts

 

At present, the main brands of disproportionation and alkyl transfer catalysts are HAT and HLD series, and the main characteristics are as follows:

◆ Product structure adjustable: Reaction raw material toluene /C, A can be adjusted between 100/00/100, benzene and xylene product structure adjustable.

◆ High space speed low hydrogen-hydrocarbon ratio: WHS≤4h-', hydrogen-hydrocarbon molar ratio ≥2.

◆ High activity and high yield: total conversion <48wt%, total selectivity ≤94wt%.

◆ High heavy aromatics conversion capacity: C, A conversion rate >60%.

◆ High stability: the catalyst has good stability and single cycle life is greater than 5 years.

 

Popularization and Application

 

S-TDT disproportionation and alkyl transfer technology has been licensed to 14 domestic and foreign enterprises, including 12 sets of 1 million tons/year or more, and the largest single set of devices is 3.5 million tons/year. HAT series and HLD series catalysts have been applied more than 80 times in more than 20 sets of industrial plants at home and abroad, and the domestic market share is more than 70%.
