Polyimide (PI) fiber is a high-tech, high value-added special fiber, with high strength, high modulus, high temperature resistance, radiation resistance, and other excellent properties, in aerospace, Marine engineering, advanced rail transit and high-temperature filtration and other fields have extremely important applications. Relying on the FTC platform of Sinopec, Shanghai Petrochemical Research Institute has vigorously improved and broken through the key production and application technologies of polyimide fiber, and formed a complete set of process technologies for heat-resistant, high-strength, and high-model polyimide fiber.

The project has applied for 16 Chinese invention patents in total, and 9 have been authorized.

 

Heat-resistant PI fiber

 

The heat-resistant PI fiber has excellent comprehensive performance and the properties of the fiber are superior to similar products in the market after testing by a third-party company.

High strength model PI fiber

 

High strength high model PI fiber fracture strength of 3.6GPa, modulus greater than 100GPa, can be used in aerospace, military, fire, and other special fields.

◆ Good processability: Belongs to organic fiber, and can be textile and other processing;

PI fiber process package development

 

Through process optimization, technological innovation, and equipment upgrading, the research work of Pl fiber at shanghai Institute has made breakthroughs in key technical points and difficulties such as raw material treatment, polymerization process, mass and heat transfer of high viscosity fluid, dry spray wet spinning process molding, imide-process mechanism, and process, and produced stable and uniform Pl fiber in multiple batches. A hundred-ton Pl process package was formed.
