The use of biodegradable materials instead of traditional polyolefin materials, while retaining the convenience of polymer materials, but also to achieve the end of the use cycle, the natural environment, the decomposition of the environment has no negative effect on the environment, to solve the continuous increase in the environmental burden especially in packaging, medical, shopping bags/garbage bags, mulch, and other fields, biodegradable materials have great potential for development. Shanghai Institute research aliphatic aromatic copolyesters (PBAT, PBST) polylactic acid (PLA), polyhydroxy fatty acid ester (PHAs) bio-based plastics (TPS, TPC) and other representatives of all biodegradable materials, through continuous melt extrusion viscosification, physical/chemical modification etc., the preparation of different specifications of film special materials, film formation performance is good The product performance meets the application requirements realizing the application in the whole biodegradable mulch film, shopping bags/garbage bags, express packaging, through the introduction of biomass components (the content can reach 50%), the material is more low-carbon and environmentally friendly, some properties are more prominent, and the price is more competitive. Through close cooperation with upstream raw material production enterprises, the full chain coverage from raw material processing modification to production and manufacturing has been achieved, and the production capacity of the fields involved has reached 1,000 tons.

 

Fully biodegradable PHA mulch

 

By blending the new block PHA material synthesized by Tsinghua University with the continuous melt of complementary biodegradable polymer material, a variety of special materials for fully biodegradable plastic film suitable for different climate characteristics are developed. Theultra-thin, high-strength, and high-toughness full biodegradable PHA plastic film is continuously and stably prepared on the industrial grade plastic film production line, which has been applied in more than 10 provinces and cities in China. It has played a good role in stabilizing and increasing production.

Fully biodegradable, adjustable service life of 2-4 months;

Film thickness: 4-6 microns, tensile strength >35MPa, elongation at break >650%, meet the requirements of mechanical film laying.

 

Promotion and Application

 

Using the biodegradable PBXT (including PBAT and PBST) materials synthesized on the 20,000 ton production line of Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fiber, we developed a new crystallization formula and process to effectively improve crystallization properties of PBXT materials and developed a continuous melt extrusion viscosificationtechnology to greatly improve the melt viscosity of materials, which is suitable for thin film applications. it can also optimize and improve the performance such as opening and lubricity as required. Developed a one-step method to continuously prepare low-cost green biodegradable film special material technology, through the introduction of up to 50% biomass components, significantly reduced the comprehensive cost of PBXT materials, and improved product competitiveness.

Biodegradability meets the requirements, melting index 3-5g/10min;

Film thickness of 10-100 microns can be adjusted on demand;

The elongation at break of the film was >500%, the breaking strength was >20 MPa; The biomass content is 20%-50 % adjustable on demand.
