Overview
Given the resource characteristics of rich coal and less oil in China, methanol-to-olefin (MTO) technology has gained rapid development in recent years, and Sinopec SMTO is the first independent intellectual property rights full process technology. After more than ten years of continuous innovation, the project has made major technological breakthroughs formed several original technologies such as "nanosheet crystal multi-porous molecular sieve and high wear-resistant catalyst", "fast fluidized bed react-regeneration process" and "MTO high-efficiency separation process of olefin", and developed methanol conversion reaction and olefin separation of complete sets of technologies.
The project has obtained 260 Chinese-authorized invention patents and 23 authorized international invention patents. Won the first prize of National Science and Technology Progress in 2017. The new mechanism of MTO reaction proposed for the first time, the invention of sheet multistage pore catalytic material and the development of key process technology has exerted great influence in industry and New Coal Chemical Industry academia.
S-MTO whole process technology and catalyst
Based on SAPO-34 molecular sieve material, MTO fluidized bed catalyst with high performance and high wear resistance has been developed, which has high carbon-based selectivity of ethylene + propylene and low catalyst consumption.
MTO fast fluidized bed reaction-regeneration technique. The reaction space speed is high, the reactor diameter is small, and the reaction efficiency is greatly improved. The innovative development of two-stage regeneration technology along the flow has realized the precise control of catalyst carbon deposition.
High efficient removal of catalyst fine powder in reaction-regeneration system. The developed "negative pressure suction" three-spin separator and "multi-component superimposed" high-efficiency scrubber have a high removal rate of fine powder in the scrubber, which solves the problem that affects the long-cycle operation of the device.
New process for high-efficiency MTO olefin separation. Developed several key technologies and separation processes such as pre-deethane, C4 hydrocarbon recovery of ethylene, oxygen-containing compounds removal, ethylene, propylene products have high purity, superior to similar foreign separation technologies.
Integration of MTO process and naphtha steam cracking process. Efficient use of MTO by-product alkanes, methanol consumption is further reduced, and the flexibility and economy of the device are improved.
Popularization and Application
In 2011, the 600,000 ton/year plant was built in Zhongyuan Petrochemical successfully operated, marking that China became the first country in the world to master the whole process of MTO technology with independent intellectual property rights, the world's largest 3.6 million tons/year plant was created in ZhongTianhe and put into production in 2016, and the 1.8 million tons/year plant was built-in Zhongan United Coal Chemical and put into production in 2019.
The project has significant economic benefits and S-MTO complete sets of technology have reached the international leading level. It has promoted the technological development of clean utilization of coal in China and led the technological progress of efficient production of olefin from coal instead of oil.
