Overview

 

Propylene is one of the important basic organic chemical raw materials, mainly used in the production of polypropylene, isopropylbenzene, acrylonitrile, acrylic acid and many other products. On the other hand, the chemical utilization of C4 resources in by-products of large-scale oil refining, ethylene, and coal chemical plants is also a concern of the petrochemical industry. OMT technology

takes low-yield C4 byproduct (mainly butene) as raw material reacts with ethylene and produces propylene with high selectivity through double bond replacement and recombination. Since 2000, the Shanghai Institute has carried out relevant research, and has successfully developed SM-2/SI2 bifocal catalysts with highly dispersed metal active centers and high-density alkali active centers, and the relevant technical level has reached the international advanced level. Based on the above catalyst, a complete set of technology for Olefin Metathesis Technology, OMT was developed.

The technology has obtained more than 70 authorized invention patents in China, forming a complete intellectual property protection network.

 

Olefin disproportionation (OMT) package technology

 

◆ Mild reaction conditions: reaction temperature 280-320℃, reaction pressure2.8~3.0MPa, low energy consumption.

◆ Simple process flow: the main process flow is composed of a preprocessor, reactor, and ethylene/propylene separation unit, no compressor, and other equipment, low investment.

◆ The propylene product directly reaches the polymerization grade: the purity of the product propylene reaches 99.96%, impurity propane content is less than 300ppm can be directly used in polypropylene production.

◆ Flexible raw materials: C4 olefins produced by steam cracking, FCC, oil refining, and MTO plants can be used as raw materials for OMT plants after proper pretreatment.

At present, the main brand of OMT olefin disproportionation catalyst is SM2/SI-2 dual-function catalyst and the main product features are as follows:

◆ High activity: the conversion rate of butene can reach more than 70% and the conversion rate of butene can reach more than 90% after recycling, and the maximum can reach 99%.

◆ High selectivity: the selectivity of propylene in the product is more than 97%, up to 99%.

◆ High stability: The catalyst has a high dispersion of metal active center and a high density of alkali active center, good tolerance to impurities, and high stability. The catalyst life can reach 2~3 years.

◆ High-pressure crushing strength: Using a unique molding method, the catalyst has high crushing strength, and the reaction pressure is reduced after loading.

◆ Environmentally friendly: No harmful and corrosive components of the catalyst, renewable, waste treatment is simple.

 

Popularization and Application

 

OMT olefin disproportionation package technology is being promoted in the industry. OMT catalyst has been used in 160,000 tons/year in Shanghai SecCO Petrochemical Co.,Ltd. and 200,000 tons/year in Ningxia olefin disproportionation plant.
