Overview
Isopropylbenzene is an important basic organic chemical raw material. More than 90% of isopropylbenzene is used to produce phenol and acetone. In this process, by-product A-methyl styrene (AMS for short) is usually generated, which can be converted into raw isopropylbenzene by hydrogenation and used in the oxidation process, so as to reduce the individual consumption of isopropylbenzene and increase the yield of phenol and acetone. Since 2009, the shanghai Institute has conducted a comprehensive study on the hydrogenation technology of A-methyl styrene to cumene. And has successfully developed SHP-A1/A10 high-performance Pd/Al203 catalyst AMS hydrogenation catalyst filling the domestic gap and successfully replacing imports.
The project has applied for 12 domestic and foreign invention patents and authorized 4 patents.
SHP-A1/A10 series catalysts
SHP-A1 is a highly active catalyst suitable for the single-stage hydrogenation process. SHP-A10 is a high space speed catalyst, which can be used in combination with SHP-A1 fortwo-stage hydrogenation process, and can greatly improve the action efficiency. SHP-A1/A10 series catalysts have high activity, high selectivity, good stability, excellent anti-impurity properties, and high-quality hydrogenation products.

Popularization and Application
In July 2016, SHP-A1 catalyst was successfully applied to AMS hydrogenation (single stage) unit of 1# phenol in Yanshan Petrochemical.
In May 2017, SHPA10/A1catalyst was successfully applied to the phenol-acetoneAMS hydrogenation (two-stage) unit of Zhongsha (Tianjin) Petrochemical Company.
