Mainly reflected in:
(1) Fix TiO2, prevent loss, facilitate recycling and improve the utilization rate of TiO2;
(2) Increase the overall specific surface area of the TiO2 photocatalyst;
(3) Improve photocatalytic activity. Because some carriers can interact with TiO2, it is beneficial to the separation of E-H+ and increases the adsorption of reactants, while achieving the regeneration of the carrier;
(4) Improve light source utilization. For example, after TiO2 is made into a thin film, the number of catalyst particles exposed to light on the catalyst surface increases;
(5) Fix the catalyst with a carrier to facilitate the production of photocatalytic reactors of various shapes.
The photocatalyst carrier first needs to be able to improve the organizational structure of the supported material (such as increasing pores, surface area, etc.). At the same time, since the photocatalyst relies on the combination of light and catalyst to exert its catalytic effect, only the catalyst activated by light has the ability to catalytic effect. Therefore, a good photocatalyst carrier should have the following characteristics: good light transmittance; strong binding force with TiO2 particles without affecting the catalytic activity of TiO2; large specific surface area; good resistance to degraded pollutants It has strong adsorption property; easy for solid-liquid separation; good for solid-liquid mass transfer; chemical inertness, etc.
What is the role of catalyst carrier?
